Our New Build: Weeks 4 & 5

So, as you can see, things are moving along down at our new build. They poured the basement and installed the two window wells for the basement. They also cute down the partially dead tree that would have been hanging directly over our house and two in our next door neighbor’s yard. It’s sad to have that gap there. It was a really nice, big, old tree, but we would have been even sadder if it fell on our house once fully dead, so it had to go. Continue reading Our New Build: Weeks 4 & 5

Our New Build: Week Two

We are now in week two of our new house being built. We typically check on it every Sunday to see how progress is going. They dug the hole, laid the footings, and poured the rocks in there. Now they say they are just waiting on the plumber so it might be a week before anything else gets done. It’s a big hole in the ground, but I’m still so excited! DIY Floating Florals

Summer is the perfect time to gather wildflowers to either put in a vase, or like my latest diy, put them in floating frames. Where we live in Northwest Indiana, we have a ton of historic trails and hiking trails, each with their own special foliage. Even my parents neighborhood has a bounty for the picking! I would much rather fill my home with artwork that is meaningful and purposeful rather than something generic to fill a space. Every time I look at these floating wildflowers in our entryway I will be reminded of all the good family walks we had over the summer of 2020. Continue reading DIY Floating Florals

Our New Build: Week 1

We are jumping into the stressful yet exciting adventure of building our new home! We have been in the process without anything actually happening for over a month now. April 24, 2020 we sold our home, spent seven hours shoving all our stuff into storage, and moved in with my parents. On June 19, 2020 they finally broke ground! We couldn’t be more excited. I have already had many sleepless nights dreaming of what I’m going to do with this blank canvas once it’s done, and so has my husband! Continue reading Our New Build: Week 1
